Zambia 2011

Hello from Zambia

by Pam Zwally on 06/14/11

Hi everyone! We've been going non-stop since arriving in Zambia on Saturday.  Sunday morning we went to an awesome church service in Chaisa. Worship started with music of course! There were 6 different choirs. One of our very own team members delivered the message. Throughout the service we were able to pray and interact with others in the congregation. We've shown the Jesus Film 3 times with amazing results. Today we assembled and dedicated the ARK (portable tent) and the location for the new Ten Mile Church of the Nazarene. There were hundreds of people there from the new church. They've been meeting under a tree nearby since February and are very excited to have church in their new "building". The daytime temperature has been perfect-around 80 degrees with a slight breeze. But at night for the Jesus Film showings it is in the high 50's. Dressing in layers is a necessity. Tomorrow we leave Lusaka and head toward Livingstone. We will be showing the Jesus Film at a church that is already established but is looking for growth. Our team consists of 38 members from several different states as well as a team of 7 youth from Olivet Nazarene University. We also joined forces last night with a team of youth from Chicago! WOW! Everyone has been wonderful to work with. The last 2 days have been spent on prayer walks. We are led throughout an area by a translator who knows the area and the people. We pray for their needs and 2 groups of medical personnel give basic medical care and nutrition kits.

Mile Sponsorship

by Pam Zwally on 06/02/11

Hi all! Here is a brief explanation of how the mileage sponsorship works. There is a registration form on our site that you can print out. Fill it in, tear off the bottom, and mail it with your check to the church (Ephrata Church of the Nazarene 110 Durlach Rd. Ephrata PA 17522). If you would like your name posted  on our website as a sponsor, just circle YES on your form. Each mile costs $1, so if you send us $50, you just sponsored 50 miles. OK? You may sponsor as many miles as you would like...1...10...100...1000! Go for it! And thank you so much for your support. 7 DAYS AND COUNTING!!!! I'm not done packing yet!

Counting down!

by Pam Zwally on 05/19/11

Wow! We only have 22 days until we leave! I just looked at my calendar and realize how much there is to do! Please begin to pray for the team as we prepare for the trip. Also, please pray for the people that we will be interacting with and that God will begin to open there hearts to the Good News they are about to hear! God bless you! Pam

5/12/11 The funds for the ARK have come in! We'll be taking a portable tent system with us that will allow the Jesus Film teams to have a shelter that can be used during the day for medical clinics/classrooms/etc. and at night it can be used for showings of the Jesus Film.

5/6/11 Our visas have arrived! This will allow us to leave Zambia and go to Botswana. Only 33 days until we leave. Meeting tonight to see if there's anything we've forgotten!

4/26/11 Our time is approaching quickly. Only 44 days! Don't forget to check in from time to time to see how things are going. Our visas have been applied for and the fundraising has begun. Don't forget to check out our Yard Sale on Saturday June 4 from 7AM to Noon. We will have food all day. If you'd like to rent a space, please call Pam at 717-733-2000.

The security people didn't like Natalie"s Crisco wrapped in foil!A very nice security guard asked us if we knew this shady lady.....and we said NO!When our departure time of 11:05 pm came and went,, and we were told it would be around 1 am, Julie decided to lie down whereever she could. Our actual departure time was 1:30 am on June 10.Finally arriving in London over 2 hours late. We won't have time to visit Wills and Kate! I hope the Queen isn't upset. And again ,,, we wait! Many planes were delayed from Newark because of storms. So the London airport was very crowded.Dinner at the London airport. We're starting to get crazy! And we waited!!Even once we were on the plane, we waited 45 minutes to take off! Are we there yet? Finally on Zanbian soil and still wearing the same clothes that we left in! WHEW!
