Ephrata Nazarene Pastors

Dr. Jim Lucas has served as worship pastor of the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene since 1999, bringing a rich background of music experience including college teaching, music writing, arranging in choral, instrumental, and piano music, music publishing, engraving, recording, and various worship pastor assignments.

As worship pastor, Dr. Lucas is continually developing vocalists and instrumentalists to be worship leaders who 'worship in spirit and in truth,' and lead people in the same way. As a worship ministries team, their purpose is clear: lead people to Jesus, so they can personally experience Him. Worship is a lifestyle, demonstrated through everything a person does and is without exception.

Pastor Lucas and his wife Joanna, have three children: Jeremy (wife, Melissa) who live in Florida, and Joel and Julia who are currently middle and high school students at Grandview Heights Christian Academy. When Pastor Jim is not involved in church-related ministry, he enjoys wogging (walking and jogging) with Joanna, biking, hiking, playing sudoku (only the hard ones!), and shopping at Ollies (a discount store; motto “Good stuff cheap”)

Favorite verse of Scripture: If it weren’t for John 3:16, nothing else would matter. God so loved Jim Lucas that He came for me. Also, the psalms of David which include those powerful phrases such as: He is my Rock, my Fortress, my Refuge, my High Tower, my Shelter, and so on. Pastor Jim was called to Christian service while attending Aldersgate Bible College in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, Canada, and has served in church ministry for over 30 years.
